72nd Original Ozark Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition
November 6-10, 2019

We are now accepting applications for the 72nd Ozark Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter contest.
The following guidelines and rules will apply:

 

    1. All music must be original music performed by the applicant.
    2. All music must be folk in origin (folk is anything that tells a story or history of a
      community, people, or region).
    3. All lyrical content must be appropriate for all ages.
    4. All applicants must have at least two original songs to perform.
    5. All applicants must be 18 years of age or be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
    6. All submissions are to be received by September 30, 2019 to be considered.
    7. All submissions must be in video format. A youtube video or privately recorded video will
      suffice. Video does not have to be of professional quality, it can be recorded on your
      hand-held device. It is important to make sure that the sound is a good representation of
      your craft.

Once the application process has come to an end, the applicants will be reviewed by a panel of
judges and narrowed down to five (5) contestants. Each contestant will perform one song on
November 6, 2019, during our Local’s Folk Fair. The Locals Folk Fair will be held in the City’s
Auditorium located at, 36 N Main St, Eureka Springs, AR, 72632. At the end of this evening, our
contestants will be narrowed down to three (3).

The second phase of the contest will take place on Thursday, November 7, as part of the
Barefoot Ball. The Barefoot Ball will be held in the Barefoot Ballroom located inside of the Basin
Park hotel at, 12 Spring St, Eureka Springs, AR, 72632. At this time, each contestant will
perform two (2) original songs for the final judging. The winner of the 72nd Original Ozark Folk
Festival singer/songwriter contest will be announced after the musical guest, on the evening of
November 7, 2019.
The winner of the 72nd Original Ozark Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition will be
awarded a fifteen (15) minute opening spot for our headliner, Marty Stuart on November 9,
2019. They will also be invited to perform a set at the upcoming, Ozark Mountain Music Festival
at the Basin Park Hotel this January of 2020! In addition to these performances, the winner will
also be awarded a recording contract for one (1) song at, East Hall Studio, located at 4210 N.
Salem, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

later than September 30, 2019! Finalist will be contacted no later than October 13, 2019.
